The essential ideal in group cohomology does not square to zero

چکیده

Let G be the Sylow 2-subgroup of the unitary group SU 3(4). We find two essential classes in the mod 2 cohomology ring of G whose product is nonzero. In fact, the product is the “last survivor” of Benson–Carlson duality. Recent work of Pakianathan and Yalçın then implies a result about connected graphs with an action of G. Also, there exist essential classes which cannot be written as sums of transfers from proper subgroups. This phenomenon was first observed on the computer. The argument given here uses the elegant calculation by J. Clark, with minor corrections.

ANNIHILATOR OF LOCAL COHOMOLOGY MODULES UNDER THE RING EXTENSION R⊂R[X]

Let R be a commutative Noetherian ring, I an ideal of R and M a non-zero R-module. In this paper we calculate the extension of annihilator of local cohomology modules H^t_I(M), t≥0, under the ring extension R⊂R[X] (resp. R⊂R[[X]]). By using this extension we will present some of the faithfulness conditions of local cohomology modules, and show that if the Lynch's conjecture, i...

UPPER BOUNDS FOR FINITENESS OF GENERALIZED LOCAL COHOMOLOGY MODULES

Let $R$ be a commutative Noetherian ring with non-zero identity and $fa$ an ideal of $R$. Let $M$ be a finite $R$--module of finite projective dimension and $N$ an arbitrary finite $R$--module. We characterize the membership of the generalized local cohomology modules $lc^{i}_{fa}(M,N)$ in certain Serre subcategories of the category of modules from upper bounds. We define and study the properti...

On natural homomorphisms of local cohomology modules

‎Let $M$ be a non-zero finitely generated module over a commutative Noetherian local ring $(R,mathfrak{m})$ with $dim_R(M)=t$‎. ‎Let $I$ be an ideal of $R$ with $grade(I,M)=c$‎. ‎In this article we will investigate several natural homomorphisms of local cohomology modules‎. ‎The main purpose of this article is to investigate when the natural homomorphisms $gamma‎: ‎Tor^{R}_c(k,H^c_I(M))to kotim...

The sum-annihilating essential ideal graph of a commutative ring

Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity. An ideal $I$ of a ring $R$is called an annihilating ideal if there exists $rin Rsetminus {0}$ such that $Ir=(0)$ and an ideal $I$ of$R$ is called an essential ideal if $I$ has non-zero intersectionwith every other non-zero ideal of $R$. Thesum-annihilating essential ideal graph of $R$, denoted by $mathcal{AE}_R$, isa graph whose vertex set is the set...

Module cohomology group of inverse semigroup algebras

Let $S$ be an inverse semigroup and let $E$ be its subsemigroup of idempotents. In this paper we define the $n$-th module cohomology group of Banach algebras and show that the first module cohomology group $HH^1_{ell^1(E)}(ell^1(S),ell^1(S)^{(n)})$ is zero, for every odd $ninmathbb{N}$. Next, for a Clifford semigroup $S$ we show that $HH^2_{ell^1(E)}(ell^1(S),ell^1(S)^{(n)})$ is a Banach sp...
